Steve Olsen, trumpet, is a retired Band Director (Rosemount & Eden Prairie school districts), outdoors/coffee/beer/trumpet enthusiast and a proud Father/Grandpa (3 incredible adult children and 5 adorable grandchildren!)Tom Henchal, trumpet, serves as GJO’s Operations Manager, and handles all of the logistics and communications for the group. Tom is an Eagan Highschool graduate, and has bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Minnesota – Morris.Eric Elert, trumpet, performs in various groups across the Twin Cities including the Medalist Concert Band and the Twin Cities Brass Band.Brent Elert, trumpet, has been a physician with Fairview for over 3 decades, and is a University of MN alum.TRUMPET SECTION
Alex Karye, trombone, is a trombonist and composer based in Minneapolis, MN. Alex is an alumnus of the Disneyland All American College Band and regularly performs around the Twin Cities with a variety of different bands.John Zschunke, trombone, taught in St. Francis and Rosemount for 44 Years, was MMEA Teacher of the Year in 2018, and founded and conducted the Rosemount Community Band.Mike Scott, bass trombone, is the Director of Orchestras at Two Rivers High School.TROMBONE SECTION
Bill Henry, keyboards, is a retired band director from Eastview and Rosemount High Schools, former Jazz Education Chair of the Minnesota Music Educators Association and Minnesota Music Teacher of the Year.Dean Kleven, guitar, studied classical piano from 2nd-12th grade. He majored in classical guitar performance at Augsburg College. Dean traveled across the country with variou horn bands, and played with Christian groups and worship teams for about 40 years. he played guitar or keyboard with 4 big bands within that same time. He also plays in a duo at various venues with his wife and vocalist, Debbie Bigelow.Dave Hagedorn, drummer and music director, directed the award winning St. Olaf jazz progarm for 23 years, and is now retired.Dave Mendenhall, electric bass, was a band director in District 196 schools for over 30 years. He has been a musician in the Twin Cities for over 50 years.RHYTHM SECTION
